CEROMAT CHUTE LINERS

Chutes & hoppers are the most important elements in material handling systems for transferring Bulk Materials like Grains, Ore, Coal, Sand, Lime stone etc. to critical conveyors & important auxiliaries. However due to simple construction it is considered as non-critical equipment in industry. It is important to understand here that a leaking chute shall waste a substantial quantum of raw or processed material, which is a direct loss of revenue. Although simple in construction, chutes & hoppers if not maintained properly can cause problems such as:

  • Choking due to hang ups specifically while carrying wet solids. This call for manpower deployment in a wasteful activity.
  • Abnormal wear behavior and leakages leading to financial losses.
  • Environmental & safety hazards due to leaking chutes.
  • Risk of Fire in case of fuel (Coal) leak.

The chute liners & complete assembly replacement calls for long shutdown & hence the job is either done in parts during daily maintenance or annual maintenance. Chute patching is a common practice in most of the Industries. Repeated patching of the chutes lead to complete geometry change, which aggravates the maintenance problems mentioned above. It is important to understand that the chutes & hoppers do not have single wear factor at all its contacting surface; in fact a chute has more complex wear factor combination than many parts of other equipment. The wear behavior of the chute involves multiple wear factors such as:

  • High impact & abrasion
  • Moderate Impact coupled with high abrasion
  • High abrasion only

Proper mapping of the wear factors in different areas needs to done in a scientific way. Thanks to the decades of experience of our team in wear tribology field, we can optimise the wear solution for a specific chute by using advanced technologies in a scientific way. Considering the complex wear factors and flow characteristics involved in chutes & hoppers we have designed our product CEROMAT liners which offer advantages such as:

  • Extremely high resistance wear factors such as Impact & Abrasion.
  • Low co-efficient of friction surface characteristics for anti-choking properties.
  • Noise reduction during operation due to non-metallic contact surface.
